TL;DR version: A seemingly dispassionate student at a magic school who has little interest in the Old Traditions of magic but a keen interest in the newly created field of 'arcanology,' (... it's an informal, illegal school club) which seeks to break magic and its mysteries down into pieces that can be scientifically measured.
